Keep Calm

A pretty stressfull week this week, but I expected it to be worth it in the end. I was right. (pics of the workshop I teached this weekend, had a great time!)

Famous

So famous that I don't need to say his name (although you might not have recognized him from the first pic). And this time I have to agree with the majority: It's always inspiring to see his work. The tradegy of course was that his work was only appreciated after he died. I feel sorry for him. Part of my mind wonders would his work have been so strong and authentic if people would have loved it than the way they do now?

This week I saw

The Netherlands, through the eyes of American painters here (& dreamed of doing a large painting myself again)

('This week I saw' was organized by Daan & Roos and inspired by Jill's Today I Saw)

The Best Ingrediënts

Somehow I didn't wake up with the best mood this morning. So I decided to cheer myself up with the best ingrediënts I know: food & art! This salade is the perfect saturday treat, it's inspired by a receipy I found in an old summer magazine: Rocket mixed salade, raspberries, goat cheese, chives, roasted hazelnuts, radish, lemon, sprinkled with walnut oil and raspberry vinegar.
The last three photos I took at the library and are from the photographer Hendrik Kerstens.

P.S.Thank you so much Roos for the stylish blog award!, I'll get back to it :)

Kiki Lamers

One of the most beautiful things me and my sister saw here, was the exhibition 'heads' of Kiki Lamers. I just keep looking at it.

Brian Dettmar

You have to see this. It is just insane!! So inspiring. A love for books on a whole different level. It remids me of the endless possibilities there are to create art.
(photo: where I stayed this weekend, back with a backpack full of inspiration, more about that tomorrow)

Everchanging

Dutch skies used to be famous with painters , and I must say I can understand why.

New York, New York

Exactly one year ago I was in NYC. We spend hours in the Modern Museum of Art. At closing time they had to kick us almost violently out of the museum. Man I wish I could travel through time. Fortunately I still have this collage I made from the pieces I liked most! (click to see bigger)

( there is another city trip coming up :)!! a little bit closer to home, but very exciting )

Corner View: Evening

'I often think that the night is more alive and more richly coloured than the day'
Vincent van Gogh
When I look out of my windows this evening, I couldn't agree more..
(curious about other 'evenings' at other places of the world? Look at the side bar 'corner view')
