Black & White

1.Old catalogue from Paul Huf, a Dutch photographer
2.&3. graphics
4. I was named after my grandma. This weekend I found a photo of her made in the seventies. I was surprised about the resemblance. So I combed my hair a bit like hers and put on some old glasses from my other grandma. In april she will celebrate her birthday, I think this photo is gonna make a great gift.

Corner View: Typical Architecture in your City

Being a daughter and once in a while employee of an architect, I think quite often about architecture. Recently I've been helping out with a slogan and commercial text. I had to answer the question for myself what is architecture about? About people and about space. We all need a little personal territory where we are protected from sun, rain, cold and warmth, and ..from (the eyes of) others. (Otherwise our walls could be transparant:). It's so interesting that architecture is so different around the world. Because of the different circumstances they were created in and different ideas about aestetics. In the circle around my house I have a great mix of very old en new architecture. I enjoy it a lot. Hope you do too.

Creative Chaos (?)

There is a weird relationship between creativity and chaos, one I'd like to explore more someday. Most of the time they go hand in hand. Nine of the ten creative people are quite chaotic. Chaotic environments are less predictable and can therefore be a nice playground with a lot to discover. But it can also work against you, (I'm afraid I know all about that) than its time to get organized!

What are you talking about?

A productive day. Finishing 'old' ideas and playing around with new ones. Thinking about where we talk about. Where do you find yourself talking about the most?

Corner View: Mini Universe

My little friend M. (9 years old) loves to play with dolls, making her own little universe.
The first photo reminded me a bit of Alice in Wonderland. And I suppose that's how she feels. Every time she opens the box with dolls a new adveture starts.
To be honest a quite similar feeling as the feeling I have when I open my box of pencils. I guess the desire to make your own little universe never stops, it only changes of shape.

Rotterdam

Last week I attended an illustration contest, I made something in a hurry and didn't really like it, but still send it in. To my surprise I was one of the nominees. Tonight they announced the winner in Rotterdam. It wasn't me but it was an encouraging experience and gave a good excuse to spend a lovely evening in Rotterdam.
