Smell of coffee, snow landscapes, pens & dummie; a sweet trip, with a sweet destination. It's been to long since I saw my friends. Happy Sunday!

Counting your blessings is such an easy way to improve life. It doesn't always make challenges
go away, but it helps me see how small they really are compared to the Blessings in my life. Lots to be Thankful for!

I made a plate (and lots of other stuff) to remind myself of that fact every meal :) Thanks to my brother-in-law & siss who bought me these glass and porcelain pens..the best gift ever!

That time of the year

I usually have two real creative peak times a year: one wandering in foreign places during summertime, one when it's getting colder, which means around this time. I wasn't feeling it yet this year, so today it was time to mentally & creatively prepare for good winter times!

1. winter art journal, first spread 2. my soon to be christmas tree 3. detail of a drawing I did last year, one I love to look at..

Simplify, get rid of the noise, focus on things that deserve your attention.

(Thank you all for your sweet words on my previous post!)

Dear artist in me,

I told you I wouldn't forsake you, sorry it took me so long this time.. Reconnecting

Also literally reconnecting, someone broke in to my house and took my laptop and Canon and lots and lots of work with it. Now I'm catching up, doing it all over again & hopefully better.

Connecting the Dots

I am working on a short art course that I will be teaching. This made me ask myself what it is about making stuff I enjoy the most and how my creative activities are described the best. My art (or the things I make) for me is a product of living a creative live. Of being playfull, of being conscious of the world and beauty around me and the constant wish to not just live life, but to design life. Even better than an end-product for me are my little books of notes, drawings, quotes & souvenirs I've been keeping since I was a child. A few months ago I discovered there is not only a name  for the thing I've been doing so long,  but that there is even a whole (very inspiring) scene out there! And -as always when you discover something- I can't believe I never heard of it before. I am talking about art journaling, also described as creative of visual journaling. I feel like this is the connecting the dots that have been floating through my mind for some time now. A very good feeling :) What about you? Do you do any kind of creative journaling?

The trees are dropping their leafs. I'm doing the same. Learning to 'let go'. Making room for new things to grow.

(autumn is also the time of...creating! more about that tomorrow)

Street Art

In some places (like Berlin) they take the phrase the world is my playground quite litteraly :) I love spotting street art whenever I feel creatively stuck, It always reminds me to forget about rules for a moment and play!

Making an other (quite succesfull) attempt to get my studio space organised. Although I dont't have a talent for minimalism, I am still relieved every time a bag of clutter leaves my house. (& refound some good stuff along the way :)

An impression of something I'm working on. Feels good to paint again!

Last saturday my brother made 'the big jump' which we celebrated with a sunny garden party. Sunday we spent jumping outside (although I stayed savely behind the camera, ofcourse :) and today I jumped into something new, which I am very excited about!
Did you do some jumping lately :) ?

Countdown (from 10.000)

Today I walked pass a house where someone was practicing what appeared to be one of his first saxophone lessons. A somewhat unstable do-re-mi was repeated over and over. It made me think how we all know you can't just pick up an instrument and play like a star right away, but somehow expect to be able to do things perfect immediately in most areas of our lives. The only thing that makes perfect is practice. According to Ericsson you need 10.000 hours to master something. I say let's start the countdown!

pics: Apperently I already liked Roger Hargreaves
when I was a kid, I found this drawing in one of my primary school boxes

Sitting in the sun and thinking about the balance between thankfullness and discontentment. Trying to be thankfull enough to be happy and positive about the things to come and dissatified enough to make the changes that need to be made.

Back from Berlin

A little overview of our seven day trip. It's true, there is no place like Berlin.

A random selection of tables from my archive. Funny to realize how your whole live evolves around tables.
(Table is this week theme of corner view; a weekly blog theme with participants from all over the world)

I did a photobooth for an event for families last saturday, love how the pics turned out! These are from my cellphone. (& was reminded again that keeping it simple is the best way to go)
