10.000 hours?

Confession: I am still in my pyjamas (lunch time here)...but that doesn't mean I have been lazy this morning. I started painting at 9.30 this morning, which is rather early for a saturdaymorning if you ask me :) I try to do a semi-realistic painting once in a while to practice my drawing/painting skills.
Whether I like (not haha) the result is not the most important thing, it's more an excercise for my brain muscles. The famous psychologists Ericson said you need round about 10.000 hours of practising for your brain to master something. Well I wouldn't start counting if I were you, but I think the fact that there is scientific reason to believe that 'practice makes perfect' is an encouraging thought. So keep practising whatever it is you like and, most importantly, have fun with it!

I can really see how my photography has evolved over the past year because I did practice everyday.

I love to see the different steps of your works and the result is great!

Nice painting, can't believe you've made it in just one morning.

  5. An idea is a point of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought.

  6. What an inspiring post, really!

It's definitely true what you said about practising. Even the things I consider myself being good at turn a little better if I've had the time to repeat them over and over again.

When it comes to drawing and painting, I'd say your 10.000 hours are done! ;)
